Abigail Grace - Artist Statement
I am a 22-year-old singer/songwriter/musician from the Bellarine Peninsula. Music has been in my life from a very young age and has opened so many amazing and memorable doors for me.
Throughout my career as a musician, I have had many accomplishments including performing as an opening act for Country Music Singer James Blundell; recording on his album “Campfire”; playing at the Queenscliff Music Festival after winning their busking competition in 2015 and playing at the APCO Foundation Wine Walk for multiple years in a row along my saxophonist father.
Recently I was interviewed and played on 94.7 the Pulse and performed at this year’s 2020 Carols by Candlelight which will be aired later in the year.
All these things, along with the connection that I can have with people through my music are why I love to perform.
However, this year has been a challenge for me personally and for my music career, along with everyone else suffering through the COVID 19 pandemic. It has put my love to perform on hold. Most of the gigs I have played this year have been Live Stream events and as much as I am appreciative of being able to do this, it just doesn’t give that same feeling that I get when playing to a live audience.
I use my music as an outlet and as a way of connecting with people around me, without that it has been tough.
I can’t wait to come out the other side of COVID 19 and get back into performing again; I’ll also be working on releasing my own original music once things go slightly back to normal.
Although it has been hard not being able to perform like we usually do, the shutdown has made me appreciative of the gift that I have and how much I need to get back into it all again.
