Biography
Photography, for me, starts with people and place.
My background is in photojournalism, and my editorial and sports photography for the Geelong Independent and Ocean Grove Voice still makes up the greater part of my work. That’s where my approach comes from — observing rather than directing, and paying attention to the moments that feel genuine.
I’m interested in the small things — expressions, gestures and details that say something real about a person or their environment.
Alongside this, I’ve been working more with vineyards across the Bellarine Peninsula and Geelong regions, as well as with Wine Geelong. That’s become a growing part of my practice, and a natural extension of the way I already work — focusing not just on the landscape, but on the people behind it and the way they work.
Whether I’m photographing a sporting moment, a performance, a winemaker, or someone in a quiet, unscripted situation, I’m looking for the same thing — something honest.
I don’t try to over-construct images. I’d rather respond to what’s already there — the light, the mood, the setting. In the end, it’s always the human element that matters most.
